Module 1: Foundations of Play-Based Therapy

Module 2: Play Therapy Approaches and Models
- Directive vs. non-directive play
- Child-centered play therapy (CCPT)
- Developmental and sensory-integrated approaches
- Filial therapy and parental involvement
- Role of structure and freedom in therapeutic play
Module 3: Tools, Toys, and Techniques
- Selecting therapeutic toys and adapting play materials
- Symbolic play, imaginative play, and sensory-based interventions
- Expressive techniques: storytelling, puppets, sand play
- Observation skills and behavioral cues in play
- Structuring play sessions for therapeutic outcomes
Module 4: Managing Challenges and Ethical Considerations
- Addressing meltdowns, overstimulation, and non-responsiveness
- Creating inclusive, sensory-friendly environments
- Boundary-setting, consent, and ethical responsibilities
- Collaborating with parents, caregivers, and educators
- Tracking progress and documentation strategies
Practical Application (Weeks 5 & 6)
There will be no theory lectures during the final two weeks. Instead, participants will be assigned practical components by the faculty to help solidify learning through applied exercises. This part of the course is exclusively available at The Mind Point and is rarely offered by other short-term training providers.
Examples of possible activities include:
- Observation-based analysis of a play session (video or case)
- Designing a play therapy intervention plan for a neurodivergent child
- Simulating a therapeutic play session outline with therapeutic goals
- Creating a sensory toolkit or environment plan
Each student will receive feedback directly from the instructor, supporting both theoretical understanding and skill refinement.
Please Note: Original Tests will not be provided. Training will be given on all the tests mentioned above along with case studies and practice.
